Half-Life 2, the sequel to the popular Half-Life, is a first-person shooter in which the player takes on the role of Gordon Freeman in an attempt to rescue humanity from aliens. The game is notable for the many awards it received, including "game of the year" and "game of the decade".
Freeman has an increasingly more powerful arsenal available to him as the game progresses, and the enemies increase in deadliness as well. There are plenty of physics-based elements that require both dexterity and problem-solving to complete. The story is rich, characters memorable, and the action is intense and unrelenting.
